Real Stories: Joe at the Fish – Employer

In another of our Real Stories blogs we’re taking some time to speak to one of our employers, Joe at the Fish in Ibiza.  This will be Joe’s second year working with Summer Takeover, and from the sounds of things he’s looking forward to it as much as we are!

Tell us about you – how did you end up out here?

I originally came out for a weeks holiday, sacked my flight home off and stayed for 2 and a half months!

How long have you been working with Summer Takeover?

This summer was the first time I’ve worked with Summer Takeover and it’s been great!

What sets our workers apart from the others?

Since day 1 I got a great vibe from the majority of Summer Takeover workers (obviously there’s always some idiots!) They all really connected well and the reps did a great job making them a team.  I ended up employing 3 of them for the full summer!  It just shows you really, a lot of the guys are only just going home now.

Many people ask us why there are so many jobs going in the resort, why do you think this is?

Ibiza is on the up again. There are more and more huge brands opening up creating so many more stable jobs, not just the commission based ticket selling jobs.

Describe a typical shift in your venue.

A typical day! Well we have the pool bar and the kitchen so there’s a lot of day time drinking and eating. We like to have fun with everyone while we’re working though so there’s normally a few Shandys and shots along the way!

What can Summer Takeover reps expect on recruitment days?

There’s a lot of different business owners/managers in attendance looking for a variety of different roles. So expect to speak to a lot of people. There’s loads of workers there too so it’s great way to meet people.

Any advice for first timers?

Don’t be scared! It may seem daunting but there’s loads of others in the same boat, just be confident get yourself out there and you’ll be fine. Be careful with your money until you get a job, it’s easy to get giddy, spend all your money, and be back in the UK in just a few weeks! Oh and when you make it to August don’t let it get the better of you, it’s a killer month that can kill people off, but see it through because September is the one! Such a great month everyone is relaxed just loving life, trust me it’ll be worth it!
