What to expect in tenerife

As the largest of the seven Canary islands, Tenerife is known for it’s volcanic landscape and vibrant nightlife. If you go sightseeing in your spare time, you can check out the gorgeous beaches and even go dolphin and whale spotting! There are 2 main areas that you may choose to work in, the famous Playa Las Americas or Los Cristianos.

The buzz of Veronicas Strip makes Tenerife an ideal party resort, with more bars and clubs than you’ll know what to do with! You definitely need a full season to experience everything Tenerife has to offer, and the number of tourists that this epic location draws makes for an ideal location to find your dream job in Tenerife.

What type of people get jobs in tenerife?

Even though it’s a smaller strip than some of our other resorts, there are plenty of jobs in Tenerife. Bar owners and club promoters are looking for fun individuals for bar work or ticket selling who can get the party going but are still willing to put the work in to do a good shift.

What type of jobs are available in tenerife?

With so many local businesses, Tenerife workers will always be in high demand so you’ll have plenty of options to choose from! Jobs in Tenerife vary, depending on your experience or personality type. If you have a special skill like dancing or DJing that you think could be put to use, get in touch with us and let us know.

As it is a party destination, most of the jobs in Tenerife will surround the nightlife. There’s always plenty of bar work and ticket selling. This puts you right in the middle of the madness, perfect for people with a big personality who love to get amongst it. There is also restaurant work for those who prefer an earlier shift, leaving the nights free to party!

If you want to make a good commission whilst working in Tenerife, shot selling or balloon selling is a great way to do it. The more you sell, the more you’ll earn - so if you’ve got the gift of the gab this could be the position for you.


When is the best time to go to tenerife?

Our dates run from May to July, but you can stay on for the closing parties - we’ll help you secure further accommodation when you’re out there. If it’s your first time working abroad, we recommend going out earlier, it’s easier to get your bearings when it’s a little quieter than to jump in at the deep end mid season!

What are the wages like in tenerife?

Wages in Tenerife average between €30-50 per day, which is absolutely plenty when you consider that a bottle of beer will set you back €2 during the day and around €4 in night time venues. As with all European resorts, spirit measures are generous so your money will stretch much, much further than it would at home.

Bear in mind - this doesn’t include tips and commission, so if you choose find a job in Tenerife with generous patrons, you could be rolling in it!


How many hours a day will I be working in tenerife?

When working in Tenerife, hours and shifts will vary depending on your job of choice. Ticket selling is usually done during the day, so you’ll have time to head back to the hotel and get ready before the big night out. Bar work starts in the evening, putting you right in the middle of the party. The average shift is between 4-6 hours, which leaves you plenty of time to visit the incredible volcanoes, go for a day trip to the theme park, or even try your hand at scuba diving.

How do I find jobs in tenerife?

Finding jobs in Tenerife will be easy with Summer Takeover. Our team of reps will help you to find a job that you’ll be happy doing for the month. It’s not the same as finding a job at home - all you’ll need is a willingness to work and a winning personality.

Not only can our reps provide detailed information about all the bars, clubs, restaurants and events that are recruiting staff, they’ll make sure you know when recruitment days are on and will get trial shifts setup on your behalf. All you have to do is show up, and put in a good shift!

What happens when I arrive in tenerife?

The first week of your Summer Takeover experience is the holiday part of your working holiday. You’ll be met by the reps at the hotel to give you the lowdown on living in Tenerife and how to get settled there. Then you’ll start the party!

You can expect your first few days to be a mix of welcome meetings, bar crawls, sightseeing and, most importantly, making friends. This is the time to bond with your fellow guests by having a drink and hitting up all of the famous Tenerife bars like Shenanigans, Hard Rock Cafe and Tramps.

At the end of the week, you’ll start your job trials. Our reps will line these up for you and you’re sure to find a job by the end of the day. Then your Summer Takeover experience begins....


What happens after my first month with Summer Takeover?

After your initial 28 days working in Tenerife, you’ll have the option to extend your stay in our accommodation at a discounted rate, or our devoted reps can assist in finding alternative accommodation.

Visas & Work Permits

If you are an EU national and/or hold a passport issued in an EU country you will likely not need to concern yourself with a work permit/visa however we would always advise you to check this prior to travel. If you are unsure of your right to work or have any questions about the process, please reach out to us.
