Our Real Stories series will be focusing on various aspects of a Summer Takeover working holiday, giving a real flavour of what it’s like to go abroad with us.  With that in mind, what better way to kick things off than speaking to a brand new crew member, Sam Keoghan?

Congratulations on being accepted for Summer Takeover 2023!  So you’ve worked abroad before – why have you decided to come with us this year?

Found work in Magaluf this year, I got a flight on my own and found my own job! I was there for a month but unfortunately had to return, I’ve chosen to come with Summer Takeover cause the banter is LIT with everyone I’ve started taking to.  Being able to speak to everyone before I go means I’m really excited for heading out, as I know they’re my kind of people!

How have you found the booking process so far?

Booking was probably one of easiest things I’ve done in my life.  I was buzzing to find out I’d been accepted, so I made sure to secure my space quickly as I’d heard how quickly the slots sell out.

What was the highlight of working abroad last year?

Highlight of working in Maga was getting steaming with Lethal Bizzle before his gig.  Being able to drink all summer without getting even half as hungover as I would do at home was also a treat.  I had to keep reminding myself to drink water, as you’d get to some days and realise that you hadn’t drank anything non-alcoholic in about 48 hours…

What are you most looking forward to this year?

I’m looking forward to Zante next year cause I’ve met some awesome people so far and can’t wait to make some memories with them and hopefully have life long friends.  I’m not used to this winter weather, life feels so much better when you’ve got a solid tan so it’ll be good to have that back.

Describe yourself in three words.

3 words to describe myself! Hmm well my mates would agree with this!! NAUGHTY… OUT GOING.. FREE SPIRIT

What role have you chosen and why?

I’ve chosen ticket selling as I like to be out and about, getting to meet new people.  The more confident you are in this role, the more successful you’re gonna be.  People just can’t say no to me, I’m a cheeky guy!

Will you be doing anything in particular to prepare for the trip?

Ive already started an extra 4 hours a day at work to get extra cash and started gym again.  Saving enough spending money to make sure I have an incredible time is my priority at the minute, means that I can party through the first week without worrying about running out of funds later on down the line…

If you could give any advice to someone that hasn’t worked abroad before, what would it be?

Advice for the travel virgins; don’t be shy, just be yourself and have a good time man! We’re all there for the same thing remember!

Solid advice!  We’re looking forward to hearing how Sam gets on in Zante next year…

We are still taking applications for Ayia Napa, Zante and Ibiza but these won’t be around for much longer.
