Benidorm Nightlife
The ultimate guide to the bars, clubs, events and nightlife scene in Benidorm.
The ultimate guide to the bars, clubs, events and nightlife scene in Benidorm.
Benidorm is famous for its sandy beaches, sunny weather and, more than anything else, its legendary nightlife. The resort town is located on Spain’s stunning Costa Blanca coastline, which has been attracting tourists since your nan was your age!
The enduring appeal of the Costa Blanca can be put down to its year-round temperate climate and thriving hospitality industry. Benidorm alone has hundreds of restaurants and over 40 nightclubs – which is why it’s one of the easiest places to get a summer job abroad.
Calle Gerona, commonly known as the ‘Benidorm Strip’, is a street in Benidorm that’s known for its many bars and clubs. The Strip runs parallel to the beach and is only a couple of streets away, making it the perfect place to go after a day of sunbathing and swimming.
Most people consider Calle Gerona to be the centre of nightlife in Benidorm. It has everything from cocktail bars to karaoke and late-night clubs, so no matter what you’re in the mood for, you’ll always find somewhere to go.
While the Strip might seem laidback by day, it truly comes alive at night. Especially popular with Brits, you’ll find holidaymakers of all ages having the time of their lives once the sun goes down.
If you want to get a feel for what Benidorm has to offer, the best place to start is ‘English Square’. This is where Calle Gerona meets Avenue de Mallorca, and it’s a hotspot of British-orientated venues.
As one of Benidorm’s most popular hangouts, KM Playa is full to the rafters most nights. It’s situated right on the beachfront and is open throughout the day as a restaurant/café, before transforming into a nightclub when evening arrives.
Discoteca Penelope is slightly out of town (but still walkable) on Avenida Comunitat Valenciana, where many superclubs are located. The main room has six bars and a VIP area, and there’s an outdoor terrace where you can soak up the moonlight with a cocktail in hand.
KU Discoteca is also situated on Av. Comunitat Valenciana and is one of Beniform’s biggest clubs, with capacity for around 5,000 people. As a late-night venue, KU opens after midnight and really hits its stride at about 3 am.
Privilege gets its old-school rave vibe from its rough-and-ready setup inside a large industrial-style warehouse. Be warned – the queue to get inside can be long, but it’s the perfect chance to get chatting and make some new friends!
It’s rumoured that Bar 69 has the biggest cocktail menu in Benidorm, but how will you know without checking it out for yourself? It may not be the rowdiest bar in Benidorm, but there’s lots of choice and drinks are priced fairly, making it a great place to start your night.
You’ll find Alameda 20 in Benidorm’s old town, just a short walk from the main strip. There are premium (and very Instagrammable) cocktails on offer alongside the usual choice of beers, but as Alameda 20 is the poshest place on this list, it’s probably best suited to special occasions.
The Secret Fountain Rooftop Bar is not so much of a secret these days, but it’s still one of the best places to go in Benidorm if you’re looking for tasty cocktails and a great vibe. It’s a bit more expensive than some other bars but worth it for the change of scenery.
Tiki Beach Bar is located directly on Benidorm’s Levante Beach, providing incredible views over the sea. It has a fun party vibe and there’s plenty of live music throughout the day, while the kitchen offers a variety of food and drink at decent prices.
If you want to kick things up a notch in a more sophisticated setting, Moon Beach Club is the place to go. Beach bar selling tasty food by day, nightclub playing banging tunes by night, it’s easy to spend your entire holiday enjoying the buzzy atmosphere.
Morgan’s Tavern is a Benidorm icon, having been made famous as the location of Neptune’s Bar in the TV show ‘Benidorm’. Yes, it’s an older crowd. Yes, it has cabaret shows. But if you don’t get a picture inside, your mum will be disappointed.
Shooters Bar and Voices Karaoke have merged to form one giant karaoke bar, with welcoming staff and a great selection of songs. Go there on the right night and your performance might even end up on the Shooters/Voices YouTube channel (on second thoughts, maybe it’s best to stay away that night…).
Jokers offers a different club experience. There’s a range of nightly entertainment (including live music) pulling in crowds of all ages, but you’ll still get classic foam parties in the summer. And the drinks offers alone make this one worth a visit.
Chaplin’s is sometimes called the ‘naughty bar’ by Benidorm regulars, thanks to its adult-orientated nightly shows. If you don’t quite catch our drift, let’s just say you probably wouldn’t be comfortable visiting with family…
Piccadilly is a karaoke and live music bar set in the heart of ‘British Benidorm’. Its convenient location means it’s popular with tourists staying in the area – and who wouldn’t love karaoke in an open-top setting anyway?
Nobody does pubs like the Irish, so if you’re looking for a classic pub atmosphere to sink some pints in, look no further than The Hurler Irish Pub. With food during the day and entertainment at night, whatever the hour, you’ll be pleased you stopped by.
Yet another Irish pub (but we’re not complaining) – the Guinness Bar has everything you could possibly want from your neighbourhood pub. Live music, sports, great food and a lively atmosphere once the sun goes down.
If you’re looking for somewhere to watch the match, Champions is the go-to spot. Located in English Square, the sports bar has a large terrace and screens showing the latest sporting events.
Planet Benidorm lives up to its name, offering an entire world of leisure and entertainment. Great cocktails, TVs showing sports, an indoor/outdoor vibe, occasional dancing – no wonder it’s a fan favourite.
If asked what the best part of a Benidorm holiday is, it’d be a toss-up between lounging on the beach and partying in the clubs. So why not combine both? With the Benidorm Boat Party, you get a 3-hour DJ set, 2 free drinks, and the opportunity to dive straight into Benidorm’s turquoise waters.
Another Benidorm institution that we haven’t yet mentioned is Broadway Cabaret, which is located right in the centre of English Square. Throughout summer, Broadway hosts a foam party every Thursday and Sunday afternoon. Complete with guest DJs, go-go dancers and special surprises, it’s not one to miss.
The Sunkissed Beach Party is held Saturday daytime at KU Lounge on the Levante beachfront. As the sister venue of KU Discoteca, the lounge has plenty of Benidorm’s top DJs playing sets throughout the day, creating a real beach carnival atmosphere.
Benidorm is a compact resort town, where the nightlife is easily split into three main areas. You have the Benidorm Strip (Calle Gerona) and surrounding area, then the old town to the west and the superclubs of Av. Comunitat Valenciana to the north.
The great thing about Benidorm is that everywhere is walkable, making it a breeze to navigate. It only takes 10 minutes to walk from one end of the Strip to the other, or five minutes to get to the beach.
If you don’t fancy walking (or aren’t in any state to!), then taxis are readily available and won’t cost much for a short trip. Alternatively, you can hire bikes and explore the local area at your own pace.
In Benidorm, Calle Gerona is where most of the nightlife action happens. However, young people will also find themselves being pulled towards Avenida Comunitat Valenciana – an industrial road heading away from the town centre, which is where all of the superclubs are located. The Old Town is generally more popular with older crowds.
KU and KM are two of the biggest clubs in Benidorm, both with capacity for around 5,000 people. Penelope Discoteca is also worth noting – it can hold up to 4,000 people between the main room and other areas.
As with anywhere, the price of drinks in Benidorm depends on where you go. There are bars selling pints of beer for as little as €1, especially if you head away from the main tourist areas. The best way to save money on a night out is to take advantage of the 2-4-1 deals and other drinks offers that you’ll find in most of the major bars.
In terms of spending money, you can live off just €20 a day in Benidorm. But that’s assuming you get all of your food from the supermarket and limit yourself to a couple of drinks. If you want to have more freedom to go out, getting a summer job in Benidorm will give you extra cash to spend making memories!
We hope you enjoyed the ultimate nightlife guide and find it easier to navigate the resort finding the best events, the best nightclubs and the best food!
